Support and Encouragement

While visiting with the families serving in Ethiopia, I was humbled by their focus on sharing love with all of those around them.  I personally felt convicted to follow the example of these amazing people and spend less time paying  attention to  myself and to stuff that doesn’t really matter.  On the flip-side I really hoped we could connect in a special way with the people serving and acknowledge how important they are to us and how much we respect them.  Maybe we could bless them in some small way by sending tokens of our love from America.

We decided to do our best to pay attention to upcoming holidays and birthdays or other important events and send a large envelope with simple pleasures to our special friends.  We send these packages every other month doing our best to share simple love and encouragement.  Our hope was that our team would stay connected to these families and be more apt to pray for them as well as send a fun hello to some of our favorite people.  These relationships have proved invaluable.  As our team grows, we hope to adopt more loving families who are giving their lives to serve in Ethiopia.

If you live in the Portland, Oregon area, we would love to have you join us on one of these Saturday mornings to pray for these families and package some love from American Families in the US to American families in Ethiopia. You can also help by donating postage or small goodies that fit in an over sized padded envelope.  If you live in another part of the country, I challenge you to choose a family to follow, to pray for and to send some American culture and fun their way on occasion.  How much more fun to do this as a group as Embrace Compassion has decided to do.
